Advanced Widget Position Types
During this time you only allow users to edit their widget positions from left to right. Why the lack of diversity? I suggest you add a variety of widget positions to allow users to feel more in control of their content. Left and right just seems a little too simple. The way I see it, these options would fall inside the 'Manage Widgets' inside the 'Type' section cell of the 'Widget Manager'. I see it as a button labeled 'Modify' much like your already implemented settings modification button inside the 'settings' cell inside 'Manage Widgets'. Here is a list of position types I came up with. -
Advanced Position Types:
- Inline (Already implemented)
Sticky Sidebar (Allows users to stick widget on the middle right or left side of the page as it follows them down or up if scrolled)
Custom Position (Allows users to remotely drag and drop their widget on their screen for the most customization. Once clicked, their website will pop up in a window and their mouse gets replaced / or has an overlay image that represents the widget. They can freely drag their mouse around and once they click, it will mark a dot in that location to show where the user placed their widget using their mouse. Coordinates in small dimmed grey text that update with mouse movement to give a relatively advanced understanding of the location that the widget was placed in. If they like their changes they click 'save', if they are not satisfied they can click 'cancel' then go back and try again.)
User Drag-able (This allows the user / site visitor to click and drag the widget in restricted locations. This feature freely allows the user to move the widget out of the way for the duration of their visit. It will draw back to it's original position after they leave the page or on refresh.)
Thanks for taking the time to read this and thanks for your consideration. :)
Hi there Shawn,
This has been implemented. More widget options are available in Widget Appearance under Position dropdown.

You can upvote request for draggable widget:
we need a draggable widget please!!!
@tawk.to Those are definitely not enough.. At least you could set the inline styles without !important, so everyone could customize it ...
I'm with anonymous, the ability to customize the position of the element on a pixel level is very much needed.
In addition to this, it would be great if the admin could modify the position even more (ie. Shift to Left 100px)
